WORK EXPERIENCE
Chaves & Loiz Studio (2005 – 2008)
Designed creative solutions in a variety of mediums for their clients. Clients include:
    Hollywood & Highland Center, Los Angeles, CA
    A major Los Angeles shopping mall
    Designed a poster for the mall’s LIVE LARGE marketing campaign to drive traffic to their website, to update viewers on cultural events and performances at the mall, and to attract visitors.
    Software: Adobe Illustrator
    MMA Group, Los Angeles, CA
    A full service entertainment marketing and branding agency
    Designed their corporate logo used on their website and on their letterhead.

    Dublab, Los Angeles, CA
    A non-profit web radio collective devoted to the growth of positive music, art and culture

    Created visual entertainment for their anniversary party consisting of juxtaposed, projected images of the Dublab staff, friends, and local artists, with whimsical words and illustrations celebrating the creative community.
    Software: Adobe Photoshop, Roxio Toast.
    After Modern Gallery, San Francisco, CA
    A contemporary art exhibition gallery
    Designed catalog and environmental signage for their inaugural exhibit. The show focused on a group of artists with varying styles tapping into the feelings and memories of their experiences, adventures, fantasies and fears while being outdoors.

Hennessey + Ingalls (20032008)
Los Angeles’ premier art and architecture bookstore.
    Subject matter expert
    In-store reference point for decorative, graphic and fashion design departments. Responsible for designing, updating and maintaining the display sections for these specialties, ordering books, managing inventory, and customer service.

Ms. Chaves has acquired an impressive list of clients for whom she has produced a diversified collection of work. Clients include:
    Adidas, Portland, OR
    A major sports apparel company
    Designed graphics and patterns for sports apparel for the Adidas “Strength” consumer.
    Software: Adobe Illustrator.
    Ninja Tune, London, UK
    A major English record label
    Designed music packaging and drew illustration for the hip hop group “Ammon Contact” for their 2006 album “With Voices”.
    Software: Adobe Illustrator.
    Hennessey + Ingalls, Los Angeles, CA
    Developed and designed their Trade catalog. The catalog format was designed to reflect the store’s contemporary interior design. It was used as a promotional item as well as a product index.
    Software: QuarkXPress.
    CalState LA opera program, Los Angeles, CA
    Designed and developed promotional items for their Opera series. Designed a new poster format that could easily be mailed out to program donors and other schools, as well as a new concept and set of images for each performance.

    Eastern Developments Music, New York, NY
    An independent US record label
    Created photography and illustrations for promotional apparel and for album covers for multiple clients.

EXHIBITIONS
Ms. Chaves’ work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, art benefits for a variety of causes, and she developed and presented an art and learning workshop for 1st graders. Highlights include:
    The Elements Los Angeles, CA (2008)
    A solo exhibition at Lucas Salon in Echo Park. The show was dedicated to interior journeys and consisted of 20 drawings. Each piece captured an ethereal world of elements at play.
    Do U See What I See? Los Angeles, CA (2006 – 2007):
    Created an experimental art and learning workshop for the 1st grade students of an Aspire Public School. The workshop dealt with drawing, painting, music, poetry, printmaking, photography, the concepts of abstract art and composition. It culminated with a student art exhibition at the end of the program showing the growth of the class.
    Hollywood & Highland Center, Los Angeles, CA (2006):
    Art show benefiting Reaching to Embrace Arts (RTEA), a non-profit organization to support art education in public schools. Featuring Abigail’s Party, Brandy Flower, Buff Monster, Cody Hudson, Dan Monick, Florencio Zavala, HVW8, Imaginary Foundation, Jessica Miller, Katsuo Design, Kime Buzzelli, Kinsey, Kozyndan, Peter Rentz, Samian Chow...
    Find Answers Vol.2, Tokyo, Japan (September 2005):
    Nextide 2005 Art Exhibition. Featuring the art and design of Erika Lively, Carolina Chaves, Cody Hudson, David Weissberg, Dez Einswell, Florencio Zavala, Katsuo, National Forest, Rhandy Tambio, Justin Luke, Saimon Chow.
